Winston-Salem, NC Handyman Services
A dependable Winston-Salem handyman for old plaster, red clay and the whole to-do list.
Sticky Piedmont summers, red clay and a century of plaster and brick give Winston-Salem homes a steady fix-it list. As your Winston-Salem handyman, we clear it in one visit, with one honest quote first.
The Winston-Salem Way of Doing Business
Built for Piedmont Weather
Winston-Salem weather is hard on houses in slow, steady ways: four muggy months of summer, afternoon thunderstorms that dump an inch in an hour, a few rounds of freezing rain most winters, and red clay that holds water against foundations and fence posts. We repair with that in mind, sealing wood that sits near the ground, setting posts so clay can't heave them, picking fasteners and finishes that stand up to humidity, and fixing the water problem behind a stain instead of just painting over it.
A Straight Price Before We Start
You get a clear number before any tools come off the truck, worked out from a few photos or a quick walk-through. No padded hours and no surprise charges tacked on at the end. If a job turns out simpler than it looked, the price drops with it, and if we open a wall and find something bigger, we stop and talk it over with you before going further.
One Visit for the Whole List
Most people don't need one big project; they need fifteen small ones finished. Hand us the list and we'll work straight down it: the bedroom door that won't latch since summer, the running toilet, the ceiling fan you bought in March, the gutter that spills over the back steps, the TV still leaning against the wall. Our licensed electricians and plumbers cover the wiring and plumbing items, so nothing gets left for a second contractor.
Local, Easy to Reach
We work across Forsyth County every week, from the bungalows of Ardmore and the Victorians in the West End to new subdivisions out in Clemmons, Lewisville and Kernersville. We know how Silas Creek Parkway backs up at five and which streets near Wake Forest fill with cars on game days. When we give you a time, we keep it, and we're still a phone call away after the work is done.
Handyman Service Across Winston-Salem, NC
Winston-Salem sits in the rolling Piedmont of Forsyth County, a city of about a quarter million people that grew out of two towns: Moravian Salem, founded in 1766, and the tobacco and textile town of Winston, which joined it in 1913. Its houses tell that story street by street. Old Salem preserves eighteenth- and nineteenth-century brick and half-timbered buildings. The West End climbs the hills just west of downtown with Queen Anne and Colonial Revival houses from the 1890s through the 1920s, and Ardmore spreads out to the southwest with the city's largest collection of Craftsman bungalows and foursquares. Washington Park, on the south side, mixes Queen Anne, Colonial Revival and Craftsman homes more than a century old, while Buena Vista and the streets off Reynolda Road hold the brick Georgian and Tudor homes of the 1920s and 1930s. After the war came the brick ranches and split-levels of Sherwood Forest, Konnoak Hills, Mount Tabor and dozens of neighborhoods in between, and downtown now has lofts in converted tobacco warehouses around the Innovation Quarter. One morning we're re-anchoring plaster in a West End stairwell; that afternoon we're hanging a TV on the brick fireplace wall of a 1960s ranch.
Getting around the city means knowing a handful of roads: I-40 running east and west across the south side, Salem Parkway carrying traffic past downtown, US 52 along the east edge of downtown, and Silas Creek Parkway and Peters Creek Parkway linking the west side to Hanes Mall and the hospitals. Green space is everywhere, from Hanes Park and Miller Park to Reynolda Gardens, Historic Bethabara Park and the trail around Salem Lake. The Carolina Classic Fair fills the fairgrounds every fall, and Wake Forest game days fill the streets north of Reynolda Road.

Jobs we handle a lot in Winston-Salem
Across the city, the most common calls are plaster and drywall cracks in older homes, doors that swell and stick in the muggy months, gutters packed with oak leaves and pine needles, ceiling fans and light fixtures in homes built before central air, running toilets and dripping faucets, fence posts rotted in the red clay, and move-in and move-out punch lists for the many rental homes near the universities and hospitals.
Questions we hear around Winston-Salem
Do you cover the whole city?
Yes. That includes downtown and the West End, Ardmore, Washington Park, Buena Vista, the neighborhoods around Wake Forest, Old Town and Bethabara, Mount Tabor, Sherwood Forest, Konnoak Hills, Waughtown and the southeast side out toward Salem Lake. If you have a Winston-Salem address, we've almost certainly worked nearby.
Can you work in my downtown loft or condo building?
Yes. Many downtown buildings, including the converted warehouses around the Innovation Quarter, ask for a certificate of insurance on file with management, work during set hours and a reserved elevator or loading area. Send us the building's rules when you book and we'll plan the visit around them.
Do you help landlords and property managers?
Yes. Between tenants we patch and paint walls, fix doors and hardware, repair faucets and toilets, replace blinds and smoke alarms, and clear the punch list before the next move-in. That's especially common in rentals near Wake Forest, Winston-Salem State and the medical centers.
